Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is currently playing his 15th season in the NBA. With the player set to reach his 40s within the next four years, many basketball fans and enthusiasts have questioned where he will likely head off to post-retirement. While some considered him to continue being an active part of the basketball community from the outside, not many expected him to enter a field that is the polar opposite of sports: Politics. From Curry’s recent remarks, however, one can form a hypothesis that the NBA player may be eyeing the office of the President of the United States.

Stephen Curry was recently seen engaging in a Q&A session with certain media members. During it, he was asked about his recent interview with ‘CBS This Morning’, with particular emphasis placed on the question that was asked to him about his political aspirations. When inquired if the player felt that he was “put on the spot” with that question, Curry replied, “No, it was a fresh question that I was asked, and the answer was honest”.

The four-time NBA champion stated that currently, he is not aware whether he is fully committed to the idea of entering politics or is fully aware of how to enter it. The latter thought can prove to be worrisome, especially since a majority of past presidents and presidential candidates have worked upon a concise plan on their intentional path to victory. The option to run, however, is worth considering if he could make some meaningful change.

“I have the interest of leveraging my platform in the greatest way I know how to continue to do things that create opportunities, create meaningful change for the people that need it” said Curry. “Whether that’s in politics or out of politics, whatever the right moves are when basketball’s done, I’m going to do it”.

Whatever his opinions may be at the moment, Curry didn’t shy away from stating that he loved the fact that the news about his supposed political aspirations “got some play”.

According to reports, the median age of a president on the day of their first inauguration is 55. The youngest elected president, John F Kennedy, himself was 43 when he assumed office. Therefore, there is a possibility that Stephen Curry wants to take time to focus on other things before he can decide on running for the highest political office in the United States.
