“I don’t want to play no more,” Giannis Antetokounmpo said in his documentary ‘Giannis: The Marvelous Journey’. The death of Charles Antetokounmpo (2017) devastated the family at the time and, amidst the grief, the then-22-year-old couldn’t look beyond the loss. Fast forward seven years and the ‘Greek Freak’ has reached global stardom. But not before he dedicated a meaningful tribute to honor his late father’s legacy.

The CAFF or Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation was created to help everyone in need, regardless of their reasons. Of course, they do have targeted drives. Remember the Diaper Mission that Mariah Riddlesprigger took point on recently? As the CAFF official website notes, they are truly a “global social impact foundation.”

And on the day that Antetokounmpo Sr. left this world seven years ago, Giannis took to X to pen an emotional tribute. “Thank you for coming out and supporting my family! 7 years ago today our dad went to heaven and we started CAFF to honor his legacy, I know he’s looking down and he’s proud,” followed by a folded-hands emoji.

Not surprisingly, the ‘Greek Freak’ commemorated the day by getting together for a good cause. As you can see from the photos above, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Veronica Antetokounmpo, and Mariah, along with other patrons, were at hand at the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC) – a team under Tiger Woods’ TGL (Tomorrow’s Golf League), and of which he is a part-owner, along with his brothers.

By now, it really shouldn’t be a surprise that the 29-year-old takes advantage of every opportunity to give back to the community. The NBA honored him with the Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award winner for the month of December in late January 2024. His efforts during the ‘Season of Giving’ were just a part of what he and his family do religiously throughout the year.

From a Thanksgiving Day dinner for 86 men living in the shelter at Guest House Milwaukee to organizing events and holiday shopping experiences for young kids, Antetokounmpo made sure Christmas was enjoyable for as many families as he could help. Aside from the honor, the league also donated $10,000 to CAFF in recognition of Giannis’ efforts.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and his partnership with TGL make it a family affair

TGL was started by Tiger Woods’ TMRW Sports and the PGA Tour. With the fusion of tech and live action, it is in short, a one-of-a-kind, innovative golf league. The LA Golf Club was the first official franchise of the league. And along with initial investors Serena and Venus Williams, and Alexis Ohanian, Serena’s husband, Giannis, along with his brothers, announced his partnership last August on X.

Aside from being a family affair, the Reddit co-founder and the 8x All-Star are long-time friends. It was just a few days ago that Ohanian met with Giannis and Mariah at a charity golf event hosted by CAFF. The newly-wed couple had recently returned from their lavish wedding in Greece. The close relationship was at full display as the millionaire businessman was seen sharing a warm hug with Mariah and posing for pictures with the Antetokounmpos.
