The Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has found himself in the midst of a controversy with his recent tweet. The 2016 NBA champ shared a link to a film based on an allegedly anti-semitic book. Irving received a lot of backlash for his Twitter post from many critics including three-time Super Bowl champ Shannon Sharpe. The seven-time All-Star deleted the post three days later despite refusing to stand down. Recently, a Kyrie Irving supporter and former NBA star fired some harsh comments at Shannon Sharpe for hyping LeBron James and co. in the media, following the NFL legend’s statement on the Nets guard.

Irving received a lot of criticism for his post following the Kanye West saga. Moreover, Shannon Sharpe also gave a critical statement about Kyrie Irving which deeply offended former Wahington Wizards star, Kwame Brown. Sharpe said“Kyrie wants you to believe he’s the smartest guy in the room.”

Brown did not welcome the comments from the eight-time Pro Bowl winner as the former NBA veteran came in support of Kyrie Irving. He criticized Sharpe for talking up the Lakers and LeBron James.

Brown takes a dig at Shape for hyping LeBron James and co.

Kwame Brown pointed out that many sports shows have wandered away from talking about sports and invested their time in attacking players about what they say and think off the court. He also felt that the appearances of personalities on sports shows were a way to push political agendas. Kwame Brown added, ” The only damn team y’all wanna talk about is the Lakers and we all know why because LeBron is on there.”

Brown proceeded to greet Sharpe with some very strong and abusive language, “But yeah, Shannon Sharpe, I’m shouting out your b**** *** from here on now, right now.”

Brown questioned several sports shows for focusing more on the personal lives of the athletes than their performance on the court. He also ended up attacking Shannon Sharpe for hyping the Los Angeles Lakers because of LeBron’s presence on the team.

Kyrie Irving questions his criticism

Irving took down his reportedly offensive post from Twitter after three days. He had discussions with Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash and the NBA management about the whole issue. However, Irving did not receive any kind of suspension or fine.

Irving also posted another tweet suggesting that he did not intend to hurt anyone’s belief and the antisemitic tag against him was unjustified. Kyrie Irving wrote, “I am an OMNIST and I meant no disrespect to anyone’s religious beliefs. The “Anti-Semitic” label that is being pushed on me is not justified and does not reflect the reality or truth I live in everyday. I embrace and want to learn from all walks of life and religions.”
