A sea of blue and yellow covered the Chase Center as Dub Nation geared up to applaud the return of their star, Stephen Curry. Curry, who had missed 11 games due to a shoulder subluxation, rolled up a black shooting sleeve and ran out of the tunnel looking to dominate. At the moment, for Golden State Warriors fans, their world was healing as their star-studded starting five were back together after almost a month. However, as the game unfolded, the fans found themselves looking for a spot to hide their faces while the stunted Phoenix Suns dominated their championship team.

Through the game, the Warriors showed glimpses of making a startling comeback but for the most part, they looked deflated. On the defensive end of the court, in particular, the Warriors looked disintegrated and lost. This was seen in a clip that has now gone viral.

Dub Nation is fueled with anger

“Watch Poole”, the tweet read. During the first quarter of the game, Jordan Poole was in charge of guarding his former teammate Damion Lee. As Lee danced around the court, he lost Poole for a split second and instantly dribbled his way to score a three-pointer. For fans, the Warriors star looked like an amateur who made the bare minimum effort to stop Lee. The camera panned on Curry, who seemed confused.

Fans were left enraged by this play. They were quick to attack Poole online. While calling his tactic to be gross, fans asked for Poole to work extensively on his defensive skills. Some stated that the young star was spinning around the court. Many claimed that due to his lack of defensive abilities, Poole isn’t a starter on the team. They let their frustrations flow out online. Here are some reactions:

Stephen Curry felt stronger as each quarter came to a close. During the post-game conference, he said, “I felt like myself again.” This is a huge relief for the organization and the fans. However, in the bigger picture, the Warriors are still not playing to their championship standards. The two-time MVP is aware of the same and is focused on trying to figure things out in the 41 games left.

For Klay Thompson and Steve Kerr, Tuesday night’s loss was a wake-up call; a call that loudly said that nothing comes easy even if you have a star-studded healthy lineup. Furthermore, Thompson confessed that the team had “probably relaxed” a little because their stars Curry and Wiggins were making a comeback.
