Ben Simmons Not Sought By Top Teams, Believes NBA Analyst

Ben Simmons has been one of the hot topics in the NBA for a while now. Whether it is for the right or wrong reasons is another question. The Philadelphia 76ers player has been under scrutiny for a while now, and seems to be on the ouster from his current side.
The 24-year-old has self-admittedly mentioned that he needs to improve on his shooting from outside the restricted zone. After a not-so-successful tenure for the 76ers, everything seems to indicate that Ben Simmons is on his way out. However, not many top teams are reportedly interested in signing him.

The Guard-Forward didn’t have the best of seasons for Philadelphia this past summer. Many argued that Simmons was brushed under the carpet due to the magnitude of Joel Embiid’s performances. Simmons started in 58 games for the Philadelphia team, and averaged over half an hour of game-time, which could’ve bolstered his statistics. But such was not the case.
Simmons averaged a mere 14.3 points in the course of the season, with multiple single-digit scores. The lanky attacker from Melbourne was evidently lacking conviction even while attempting 2-pointers; something that was unusual to see. He also managed 6.9 assists and 7.2 rebounds in the regular season, and shot at around 61% from the free throw line. Aside from the numbers, Simmons looked like a shadow of himself on court.

After a relatively insipid season with the 76ers, Ben Simmons will inevitably part ways with his current side. However, reporter-analyst Chris Haynes does not think there is a lot of optimism among top sides regarding a trade for Simmons.
“You look at the teams that are being rumored, you talk about Minnesota, Sacramento; these are good teams. These are teams that are young and are still trying to develop players. You don’t hear a lot of top-notch teams, you know, clamored to get Ben Simmons right now,” the experienced reporter claimed on the Dan Patrick Show.

Irrespective of where Ben Simmons finds himself playing next season, he will look to rediscover his best form. His best season in terms of numbers perhaps came in 2019, and the Australian-American will aim to better that record. Will the 76ers offload Simmons? Or can the star find his deft touch for the side that he bloomed in?
