The Brooklyn Nets are continuing their dominance as they stretched the win streak to seven games after a win against the Sacramento Kings. They comfortably won the home game 127-118 even as Kevin Durant missed the play. 

The Nets are now 21-12 with the most number of wins in the EC and hold a strong position in the league. The hero for the Nets is none other than James Harden, who has shown versatility and adaptability. This flexible attribute of his play has given him a place among the franchise’s elites.

The Beard is someone who hasn’t shied away from taking on the low-profile task of playmaking while KD and Kyrie score. But in the absence of either of the two, Harden can step-up and become the same offensive weapon he was a few years ago. As a result, he has scored six triple-doubles in the 18 games he has so far played in the Nets jersey. 

Jason Kidd had played 506 games (seven seasons) for the Nets in which he scored 61 triple-doubles. If The Beard continues at the same paces, he can surpass Jason’s record in a matter of the next 165 games (roughly in 2022-23). To achieve that, he’ll definitely need to extend his contract with the Nets after 2021-22. But that’s a huge possibility if one looks at his early success with the team.

The Beard and his bonding with Kyrie Irving

The point guard/shooting guard combination of James Harden and Kyrie Irving is benefitting the squad big-time. In a recent high-profile game, the Nets defeated the Clippers 112-108 where the two stars combined for 65 points.

Even against the Kings, they added 50 points and scored seven three-pointers. These are scary figures given they also boast a powerful starting five, even in the absence of All-star captain KD. Center DeAndre Jordan is great at his rebounding, followed by forward Bruce Brown’s scoring and Joe Harris’s shooting skills.

The cherry on the cake is that James Harden can score a double-double every single night without even sweating for it. The Nets are certainly an NBA Finals squad, and the Harden of today is arguably as good as the double-double averaging star from 2016-17 season.
