DeMar DeRozan Drops Truth Bomb on Hating Utah Because of Michael Jordan

After ages, Chicago Bulls fans can finally see history repeating itself. Courtesy of the fiery DeMar DeRozan, the men in red are revisiting the iconic era of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and more. Growing up, DeRozan idolized the likes of MJ, and always looked to emulate him. In a recent interview, the 2022 MVP candidate expressed how Jordan influenced a lot of his views and opinions, including a peculiar one.

A 14-time All-Star, Michael Jordan mesmerized the NBA’s most ardent fans for close to two decades. In spite of encountering several roadblocks along the way, ‘His Airness’ had one of the most successful careers in the league’s history.

With 6 titles to his name, even a move away from the sport for a few years couldn’t tarnish his legacy. Characteristically, DeRozan is arguably the modern-day version of Jordan. However, can he emulate his success?

Averaging over 28 points this year, DeMar DeRozan recently broke an impeccable record. He became the first Chicago Bulls athlete since Jordan himself, to score over 35 points in 6 consecutive seasons. On more than one occasion, the 32-year-old has spoken about how Michael impacted his basketball. Interestingly, the 59-year-old perhaps changed a lot in him.

During a recent press conference, DeRozan was asked about watching Jordan when he grew up. To this, he recalled. “From ’98 on, I remember his last 2 championships for sure. Being a kid, my dad made me watch every single game. Me, I remember, I used to hate Utah; because you know everybody who was rooting for the Chicago Bulls [at that time] hated Utah. So as a kind, I said I hate Utah too.”
