One of them is Larry Bird, an assassin that no one saw coming. From the appearance, ‘Larry Legend’ wasn’t intimidating. However, his tenacious nature and relentless drive to win separated him from his peers. The three-time champion only had the ball on his mind. Even remembering a bad play once made him shout at a youngster in the Celtics.

Bird arguably goes down as one of the greatest NBA players of all time. A member of the prestigious NBA Top 50 and 75 teams, the three-time champion’s accolades speak for his career. A legendary run with just a single franchise, the three-time league MVP was a cold man. Shining in the clutch and oozing confidence, the ‘Hick from French Lick’ became a pioneer for the game of basketball.

His obsessiveness was probably the biggest factor that made him great. Even four weeks after a game, Bird couldn’t stop thinking about a single bad play. It frustrated him so much that he exploded at a Celtics rookie while chowing down Mexican food.

The Boston Celtics were in their dynasty days with future Hall of Famers such as Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, and Dennis Johnson. The decade of the 1980s was a back-and-forth war between them and the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1991, after the glory days were long gone, Bird was in his last season. Battling back pain and injuries, the Celtics legend had come off a great stretch of basketball.

Unfortunately, Brian Shaw walked by at the wrong time. Bird glanced at the youngster who was heading to his parent’s house. Formerly playing in Italy, the three-time champion shouted at Shaw, “Hey, Brian! Going back to Italy?”

Larry Bird never let his competitive spirit go. In his ultimate season. fighting through back injuries, Bird averaged 20.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. With a 13-year career that goes down as one of the best stretches in NBA history, Larry Bird was built for the game. Embracing the pressure and thriving in the moments, he wrote his name in Boston Celtics’ history books.

His three championships sealed the Celtics’ greatness during the 1980s decade. Bird probably hated nothing more than losing. And even a small play was enough to fuel his fire.
