The Cleveland Cavaliers accomplished one of the biggest feats in NBA history in the 2016 NBA finals. After being down 3-1 against the Golden State Warriors, the Cavs went on to win the series 4-3, winning the last three consecutive games. That series is still talked about to this day. As the Cleveland Cavaliers are the only team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit and win the NBA finals.
The Golden State Warriors were trolled for years for blowing a three-game lead to the Cavs. And the big three LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love ended up etching their names in the history books as champions.

Tyronn Lue and his innovative scheme to win
Tyronn Lue appeared on J.J. Redick’s podcast, ‘The Old Man And The Three.’ Redick and Lue talked about that historic series and how it all went down. Because usually when a team is down by that margin, players tend to give in.
But Tyronn Lue had a few tricks up his sleeve to keep the team and the player’s head’s in the game to overcome the Warriors. As it was, the Warriors were up 3-1. Then the Cavaliers went on to win the fifth game of the series, bringing it to 3-2.

But after their win in game 5, Tyronn Lue made everyone in the locker room give him $200 including team owner Dan Gilbert. He ended up wrapping the money and putting it into the ceiling.
Lue told his team, “Are we coming back for game 7 to get our money?” That depended on the Cavaliers winning game 6 on their home court and they did. After which, the Cavs came back to Golden State for game 7.
And as we all know, the Cleveland Cavaliers ended up defeating the Golden State Warriors in game 7 to win their first NBA championship. As the team came into the locker room, Lue went into the ceiling to grab that money.

And the first thing LeBron asked Tyronn Lue was where did that money go? “I don’t know, it disappeared. But I kept it for myself,” Lue said while laughing. Clearly, that money wasn’t a concern for anyone as they had just won an NBA championship.
One for the history books with LeBron James
Even though it was a whole big three show, led by LeBron James, one person who does not get enough credit for that series is the head coach of the 2016 Cavaliers team, Tyronn Lue Lue did an amazing job to keep the team’s head in the series despite being down by a lot.

And as we all know it, the Cleveland Cavaliers ended up making history by not only coming back from a 3-1 deficit but also ending the 52-year-long championship drought for the city of Cleveland.
