Recently, Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson surprisingly credited Lionel Messi’s $5 billion worth former football team Barcelona for the success of Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

After a satisfying victory against the Lakers, Thompson joined Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley at TNT. The four-time NBA champ talked about how Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr impacted the team’s success and inspired Stephen Curry and company.
Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry have been with the Warriors throughout their careers. Curry made his league debut in 2009 while Thompson joined NBA in 2011. However, the duo could not win the first championship for the Golden State Warriors until 2015. Steve Kerr joined the franchise in 2014 and inspired the Warriors to become a championship-winning team.
Thompson reveals the motivation for Stephen Curry and the team
Thompson shared that Kerr and his vision allowed the team to keep moving forward. The five time-All-Star said, “I mean he gave us a perfect example in FC Barcelona, they called tiki-taka. It’s just kick to the open man and with us, it’s just hit the open man, keep moving. And it just plays to me and Steph’s strengths so much.”

The Warriors never turned back since 2015 and won three more championships in 2017, 2018, and 2022. Last season, Stephen Curry put up a magnificent performance all season and was awarded the Finals MVP for the first time in his NBA career.

Thompson returned in 2021-22 after being sidelined for a couple of seasons. He averaged 20.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 32 appearances. Thus, Klay Thompson will hope to play a lot more matches and contribute to the team’s success this season.
