Lakers Legend James Worthy Drops Magic Johnson Reality Check on LeBron James’ Leadership

The Los Angeles Lakers have not had a good run this season. They are currently sitting at 9th on the table and are the qualification spot looks challenging. The Lakers roster has been subject to various injuries. One of the other of their star players are always injured.

Laker legend James Worthy speaks about the current scenario Lakers are stuck in. He believes that the Lakers are struggling right now because they do not have a leader. LeBron James is supposed to lead the organization, however, he does not seem to be taking to the role.

James Worthy’s opinion is that the Lakers are statistically a good team. They have amazing players on their roster on paper. However, the one place they lack is leadership. LeBron is the veteran player on the franchise. He is the most experienced one among all. Therefore, it is only natural for the entire team to look up to him to lead.

James Worthy says “LeBron is the captain. He is the spokesperson in the locker room.” He further compared LeBron’s role to that of Magic Johnson. “Magic Johnson would have that responsibility. Magic would Say, look guys, we gotta do this, we gotta do that. This is how we’re gonna do it.”

James Worthy believes that LeBron needs to step up his leadership and take control of the team. He needs to lead the team knows that they are better than what they show. He needs to be the final push for his teammates.

Is LeBron James a leader?

LeBron James has been a leader all his life. It was not fair of James Worthy to completely strip him of the title of a leader. LeBron James carried the Cleveland Cavaliers to the playoffs everyone season from 2003 to 2010. He was a mere kid back then, however, leadership is one quality he has always possessed.

There were exceptionally talented players on the roster of Miami Heat. He played with players like Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and Ray Allen. However, LeBron was the one everyone looked up to lead the team. He was the floor general, as he always has been.

LeBron is still trying to lead the Lakers. However, he has been dealt a deck of really bad cards. The team has championship-caliber, but they get injured too much. Anthony Davis is a fragile player and any sort of over-exertion leads to an injury. Russell Westbrook has been stuck in a slump the entire season. LeBron himself has suffered injuries this season.

However, half the season is left to go and there is scope for the Lakers to improve their form.
