The NCAA women’s basketball season has, at last, come to an end after giving their fans one of the best postseasons in recent years. The game between the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes was a perfect ending until a few decided to celebrate their championship win in, as many fans put it, a “classless” way. LSU star Angel Reese’s celebration, imitating stars John Cena and Stephen Curry, which went viral all over the internet, also continues to receive a lot of hate.

However, many basketball stars and analysts did not tolerate the hate towards Reese and reminded fans of Caitlin Clark’s celebrations from a previous round in the tournament. Angel Reese’s celebration mocking Clark has started a controversy on Twitter.

It’s no doubt Caitlin Clark outplayed several players on her path to the championship game. However, things were not the same in the final. Even after dropping a team-high and crucial 30-point performance, Iowa fell prey to the LSU Tigers. A complete team performance from the Tigers helped them bag the 2023 NCAA championship.

Angel Reese, who played a crucial role with 15 points and 10 rebounds, went on to boast her win by imitating NBA superstar Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors guard used the famous ring celebration last year in the Finals against the Boston Celtics. Though Curry was considered a hero for the celebration, Reese wasn’t. Further, Reese used the famous ‘you can’t see me’ gesture by WWE star John Cena to celebrate the humongous win.

However, fans do not seem to appreciate the LSU star as they feel there is a lack of sportsmanship. Nonetheless, many came in support of Reese after Caitlin Clark’s similar gesture resurfaced amid the controversy.

Rockets star Tari Eason and fans back up LSU star Angel Reese

Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason, an LSU graduate, showed his support for Reese’s celebration. The 21-year-old mentioned on his Twitter, “Boot tf up”, replying to a video of Reese’s John Cena gesture. Though a few believe Reese was wrong for the gesture, many seem to back up the young guard. Here are some of the mixed reactions from fans, hating and supporting the LSU star:

Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho came out in support of Reese and called out people for double standards.
