While the NBA is preparing for the 2023 playoffs, the NCAA tournament is currently in the midst of March Madness. Basketball fans are cheering on their favorite college teams as they compete for this year’s championship. After the second round concluded, Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade commended his university basketball team following their recent matchup against Michigan State. The former NBA superstar sent his love to the Golden Eagles via a dedicated story on his Instagram handle. But that’s not all. Wade also gave fans a sneak peek into his day out with his family.

Before dominating the NBA world, Dwyane Wade spent three glorious years playing for the Marquette Golden Eagles under the guidance of coach Tom Crean. During his second season with the Golden Eagles, Wade led his team to the Final Four for the first time in over two decades. His impressive run with Marquette prompted the college to retire his jersey, despite not having finished his studies due to the 2003 NBA Draft.

The Marquette Golden Eagles faced the Michigan State Spartans in the Second Round of the NCAA tournament held on March 19. The game that took place at Nationwide Arena witnessed the Spartans defeat their opponents 69-60. While the game turned out to be a disappointment for Eagles fans, Dwyane Wade chose to commemorate their incredible run this season with a social media post.

There is no doubt that the Golden Eagles had a great season. Before getting knocked out of the competition by Michigan State, the Eagles won 29 games out of the 37 played. During the Sunday night game, Eagles forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper led his team by scoring 16 points but fell short of the Spartans’ Tyson Walker who scored a game-high 23 points. The Spartans are set to face Kansas State on March 23 in the Sweet 16.

In the following story shared after the Marquette post, Wade uploaded a photo of himself with his daughter Kaavia, and his father Dwyane Wade Sr. The trio seemingly went out for a fun outing as they posed for the outdoor selfie taken by Wade.

In the caption, Wade mentioned the similarities between him, his father, and his daughter with a caption that read, “I look like my daddy and so does she!” Kaavia James is Wade’s first child with his wife/actress Gabrielle Union via surrogacy.
