The rematch between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks had the same end result. Although the Lakers had a better start, Anthony Davis’ return wasn’t enough to rescue them from their slump. The Mavericks utilized the second half and rallied back from a 17-point deficit to escape with a 108-93 win. This only shows how desperately the Lakers need LeBron James to get victories. In fact, Skip Bayless called out the Lakers and Bron for cleaning up the mess they’re making.

Their loss to the Dallas Mavericks marks their third consecutive loss. In the first game, AD played only a meager 17 minutes but his time was eased in the second game to 25 minutes. Although this helped him add 17 points to the scoreboard, it wasn’t enough. And it seems like nothing will be till Bron returns.
Bayless took this opportunity to hit the Lakers again with a reality check. He also called out Bron to come back from his vacation, as if he was sitting out intentionally.
He posted on Twitter, “The Lakers just blew a 17-point first-half lead, lost the 4th quarter 29-14 and lost at Dallas by 15. AD cold again (5-19, 0-6 from three). Enough vacation, LeBron. Save your squad. It isn’t as good as it was last season.”

What went wrong against the Mavericks?
Davis might have played longer, but he was struggling to get his rhythm back. He is still rusty offensively and was not able to shoot the ball like he used to. What the Lakers did try to do this time was trap Luka Doncic which led to him giving up the ball.
However, Doncic wasn’t the only scoring prowess in their lineup. Dwight Powell came close to hitting his career-high and finished with 25 points and 9 rebounds. This reminded Dallas how significant he is for them.

And finally, like Skip also mentioned, the Lakers blew a 17 point lead. In fact, they barely even scored in the last five minutes of the game, and that’s when Mavericks saw their chance and swooped in.
So, can the Lakers only count on LeBron? Or can they prove Skip wrong and turn this around?
