Stephen Curry Drops Harsh 8 Word Reality Check on Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole After Tough Warriors Loss

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have been terrific this season. They have been consistent, and it goes to show as they are the 2nd seed in the Western Conference. They are surely on course to make the playoffs and try for their 6th NBA finals & 4th championship in 8 years, which would certainly be an achievement.

However, despite the dominating performances by the Warriors, their shocking losses are what concern the fans. The Warriors recently lost to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. The Mavericks are the 5th seed. So the Warriors’ loss was not as disappointing as the manner of it. The Warriors blew a 14 point lead, which resulted in a victory for the Mavericks.

The loss against the Mavericks left an unhappy and dejected mood in the Warriors camp. They blew a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter itself. Dallas managed 33 points in the last quarter whereas Golden State had to settle for just 13. The Warriors lost 101-107 in the end.

Stephen Curry showed his disappointment in his post-game interview. It was an impressive Curry performance with 27 points with 4 rebounds and 10 assists. But it wasn’t enough as Luka Doncic stole the show with 37 points.

Stephen said, “It’s not just gonna happen on its own.” A harsh 8-word reality check when he was asked how they can turn this loss into a learning experience going ahead into the playoffs.

This was also in regard to performances from Andrew Wiggins, young Jordan Poole, and also the rest of the team in general. Steve Kerr, head coach, admitted to the fact that they have to learn from this defeat. 

The next best on the Warriors team was Wiggins with 18 points and Gary Payton with 13. Whereas, Poole only managed a mere 4 points, displaying a poor performance in his 19 minutes on the court.

Steph said that they need to learn from their mistakes and do better going forward. He mentioned how he thinks they should have managed the game better considering they had a 14 point lead going into the 4th quarter.

“We played 36 great minutes,” Steph said about the match, “The energy for whatever reason just got zapped you know on the other end and they start to pick up life which then, in turn, their defensive energy picks up because they feel like they have a chance.” 

Steph also shared how they need to trust their abilities and stay confident even if the shots don’t go their way so that they don’t lose focus and don’t bottle the games. This has been a recurring theme for Warriors whenever they lose.

It’s generally not that they get railroaded by the opposition, but their poor game management has cost them multiple times. In pursuit of their 4th championship, they need to sort things out and learn from their mistakes.
