“That Was More of a Mental War”: Kobe Bryant Made His Opponents Feel Stupid Because of “Intelligent” Trash Talk, Per 3x NBA All-Star

Kobe Bryant was one of the players who got admired for his work ethic apart from being one of the finest on the court. Moreover, he was also an elite trash-talker and a master at playing mind games with his opponents. The ‘Black Mamba’ was really able to capture the essence of trash-talking along with displaying it on the court. In light of this, lately, the Washington Wizards veteran, Gilbert Arenas, delved deeper into the subject of Bryant’s trash-talking.

Gilbert Arenas played in the league when there was Kobe Bryant bossing around the courts. However, that didn’t dull the sparkle of the Wizards veteran. Arenas even displayed a fantastic performance by dropping 60 points against Kobe and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2006.

Gilbert Arenas redefining the trash-talking of Kobe Bryant

Recently, Gilbert Arenas sat down with RJ Hampton for a one-on-one interview. During the interview, he revealed a few intriguing facts regarding Kobe Bryant. Arenas started the conversation by expressing that Bryant was not his toughest opponent, as he never guarded him much. Moreover, he added how Kobe always used to poke him whenever the two faced each other on the court. Thereafter, considering this, Hampton threw a question to Arenas regarding Kobe’s trash-talking. Subsequently, the Wizards veteran acceded to his query along with redefining Kobe’s trash-talking.

He complimented his trash-talking and continued by terming it as “intelligent”. Moreover, Arenas added regarding Bryant, “He made you always second guess everything you’re doing.” Thereafter, he supported his claim by showing how Bryant used to trash talk on the court. Lastly, the three-time NBA All-Star finished off by saying, “That was more of a mental war,” in regard to playing against the Black Mamba.

His statements were pretty self-explanatory and implied his respect for this characteristic of Kobe Bryant. In addition to it, Gilbert Arenas’ remarks also hinted at his admiration for one of the bests of the game.
