Lonzo Ball is arguably one of the most scrutinized players in the NBA. Despite this, there is no denying how talented the Pelicans’ point guard is. He is arguably one of the finest passers in the league and a key piece for the Pelicans.
While his brother, LaMelo Ball, has got most of the plaudits in the initial part of the season, Lonzo’s impressive season has flown under the radar. Over the seasons, the 23-year-old has transformed his game.
Zo, who was initially made fun of for his hilarious three-point shooting form, has worked on his flaws and improved massively. His numbers certainly show how impressive he has become beyond the arc.

Lonzo has been on fire this season, knocking down 3 three-pointers of his 7.8 attempts with an efficiency of 38.5%. What makes this statistic more staggering is the fact that he has eclipsed players like Jayson Tatum and Trae Young who are considered lethal shooters beyond the arc.
After a slow start to the season, the Pelicans’ guard picked up the pace in February with a significant increase in his production all over the board. Ball who was averaging 12.5 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game in the first 15 games, averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in February.
His three-point shooting also saw a significant jump at the same time. After shooting a dismal 32.1% from the line for the first fifteen games, Zo shot the ball at a staggering 45.9% from the perimeter in February. The Pelicans will hope that their star can maintain this form.
Is Lonzo Ball still a top trade target ahead of the deadline?

A couple of weeks ago, Lonzo Ball was part of a flurry of trade rumors. Ball wasn’t having the best of starts and there were rumblings that the Pelicans might be open to offload their point guard.
But a month later, the trade rumors have fizzled out. With an amazing jump in output across the board, the 23-year-old has become a key contributor to the team. Given his ability to find the right man often, he also looks like an amazing co-star for Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

The Pelicans now have two options. They can either keep Zo and build around the big three of Zion, Ingram, and Ball, or they can trade him for some good young players and future picks.
