Before coming into the regular season, the NBA made its comeback in Japan. Three years after the first Japan Games, the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors traveled for the international games. The reigning Finals MVP, Stephen Curry had himself a trip to remember showered by fans’ love. However, while on the basketball trip, the Baby Faced Assassin took a break from the sport and decided to explore the traditional Japanese sport of Sumo Wrestling.

Curry was arguably the biggest star in Japan. The defending champions were put up against the Washington Wizards in a two-game showdown. The Warriors began their preseason journey undefeated winning both matchups convincingly. Moreover, the crowd also got to witness the splash brothers jointly win a three-point contest.

However, basketball wasn’t the only sport Stephen Curry ended up playing while in Japan. Exploring the country with historic culture and heritage, the Dubs guard stepped into the mud with a few of his teammates. Surprisingly, the NBA stars looked unusually small in comparison to their opponents.

Basketball isn’t the only sport Steph Curry enjoys. Notably, the eight-time All-Star loves himself a few rounds of golf. Often seen on the course, Curry has even taken part in several competitions such as the Ryder Cup. However, when the Warriors superstar was in Japan, he participated in their local sport.

Sumo wrestling is more than just a sport in Japan. It is a living embodiment of Japanese culture. Visiting for the Japan Games, Curry along with Jordan Poole got a first-hand experience of the sport. While they didn’t compete, the duo went into the mud and faced off against the most intimidating of Sumo wrestlers. Interestingly, as some fans were quick to point out, Stephen Curry looked incredible small compared to the Sumo warriors.

The Japan Games were a major success for the Golden State Warriors who came through unscathed. However, the same can’t be said for their regular season so far. The defending champions have dug themselves into a hole. Being under .500 through the first 17 games of the season, the defending champions find themselves as the 11th seed. Despite Stephen Curry’s blistering 32.2 points per game, the Golden State Warriors have let their star man down. Moreover, they rank as one of the worst defensive teams in the Western Conference.

But not all hope is lost just yet. The other Warriors are slowly waking up from their slumber as the champions have won three of their last four games.
