Given the stature and reputation of the Los Angeles Lakers in the league, fans expect the team to at least make it to the playoffs during the start of every season. Before the playoff discussion started to pick momentum in the NBA world, fans and analysts were already talking about the Lakers’ playoff prospects. However, LeBron James and co. has not been able to perform according to expectations, as inconsistency still haunts the team. Moreover, the Lakers lost a crucial game against the Mavericks last night, prompting a harsh reality check from a frustrated Lakers star.
The Lakers are currently 10th in the Western Conference table with a losing record of 34-37. They desperately needed the win against Dallas to keep their playoff hopes alive.
When the Lakers locked horns with the Mavericks, the former had all chances to have the last laugh. Despite outsmarting the Mavericks throughout a large chunk of the game, the Los Angeles side’s lackluster display in the second and the third quarters eventually saw them falling short in a close game. Frustrated by the loss, Lakers star Austin Reaves expressed his disappointment at the team’s attitude.

Frustrated Austin Reaves blurts out harsh reality check for his team
The Lakers badly wanted to win last night and they came very close to a triumph. During a post-game interview, Reaves was asked how the team felt after losing out on a hardly fought game. He replied that the mood in the dressing room was gloomy. Subsequently, the young star proceeded to paint the harsh reality for the LeBron James-led side.
“You know we are a group of competitors. So that’s obviously why I would be worried if the mood wasn’t like that. Just because, you know, if you don’t care about losing games that are really meaningful, then what’s the point of playing,” Reaves said.
