As the reigning champions, the Golden State Warriors are determined to defend their throne. They have got Stephen Curry having arguably his greatest offensive season so far. Moreover, their role players are starting to come to life. Notably, Klay Thompson’s shot seems to have come back to him. However, the Bay’s defense has arguably been leaking points away. Likewise, to not waste their franchise hero’s emphatic season, the management might execute an emergency trade according to the latest reports. And it involves their former number two pick, James Wiseman.

Wiseman was once the perfect fit for the defending champions. The 7-foot center undoubtedly has the skills to deliver. He is a reliable rim protector with a refined offense. After a stellar college career, there were high hopes for the 21-year-old. However, injuries saw him lose his spot in the rotations. Moreover, after an underwhelming start to this season, the young talent was sent back into the emerging league. His numbers arguably don’t do justice to the dominance Wiseman is capable of.

His sub-par production could make him part of the Warriors’ emergency move. Notably, according to a Western Conference executive, the Bay might make way for a defensive talent putting Wiseman on the chopping block.

Golden State Warriors looking to trade Wiseman?

In an interview with Heavy Sports, an anonymous Western Conference exec said the Warriors are still committed to James Wisemans’ development. Sending him to the G-League, he has averaged 15.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. However, the tide might turn against 21-year-old Memphis talent. Notably, the executive revealed Wiseman has created quite an interest around the league. With the Golden State Warriors needing a defensive anchor, and Stephen Curry having a dream season, they might consider making a trade.

The executive said: “It would be an emergency type of situation, trying to trade him, but with the year Steph [Curry] is having, they have to be tempted to say they need help now and Wiseman is a good trade chip. They would have takers and they could get a guy who would help them to win now, that is for sure.”

The Golden State Warriors?reportedly have some candidates on the shortlist. Notably, Phoenix Suns’ Jae Crowder might be the leading candidate. His awkward situation with Phoenix could make him the best possible choice. Other potential options include Myles Turner, Jacob Poetl, and Saddiq Bey. A defensive expert could provide the Warriors with the two-way supremacy they desperately need. Currently, Stephen Curry is currently performing at an all-time level, averaging 31.4 points.

But this is only an emergency trade. The reigning champions are still backing their young talent. Now, it’s up to Wiseman to deliver on his expectations and assert himself in the rotation.
