The Paris Olympics are only a few months away. Considering Team USA’s dismal loss in the FIBA World Cup, NBA legend Grant Hill the Coach of the team is on a mission to form the Redeem Team 2.0. with future Hall of Famers like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry in the starting five. A place in this team would be a huge honor for any basketball player. Considering which, Hill went to surprise Jrue Holiday with that announcement.

In a recent video posted on X by USA Basketball, Grant Hill is seen sneaking into Holiday’s living room.  The coach takes the aid of the Celtics star’s eight-year-old daughter, Jrue Tyler, to maintain the element of surprise, further letting her hand over the Olympic jersey to Holiday. “Along for another Olympics! Let’s go get another gold,” read the caption. This would mark the Celtics’ guard’s second outing to the Olympics following his 11 points, five rebounds, and a team-leading three steals contribution to the team’s gold in Tokyo.

Winning four consecutive Olympic gold, this summer, Team USA is once again a heavy favorite to win. Especially, because the players assembled to play are perhaps too powerful to overcome by a single team. Other than the names already mentioned, 2023 MVP Joel Embiid will play center, along with Jayson Tatum and Anthony Edwards also joining the squad.

Although Jrue isn’t a part of the starting five, he will provide significant support from the bench. Making Team USA’s 2nd unit better than half of the starting five of other countries. This is an especially great time for the All-Star as he recently inked a new contract as well.

Jrue Holiday and the Celtics are making it official

Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens deemed it an obvious move to pursue Jrue Holiday when the five-time all-defensive selection was traded from Milwaukee to Portland in exchange for Damian Lillard.

Following a standout season where Holiday significantly bolstered the core of the Celtics, contributing to their securing the NBA’s best regular-season record, Stevens is determined to retain him. Holiday has agreed to a four-year, $135 million contract extension with the Celtics, as confirmed by his agent Jason Glushon. The extension will keep him with the team through the 2027-28 season.

At 33 years old, Holiday fills the gap left by the departure of defensive stalwart Marcus Smart, who was part of a three-team trade that brought Kristaps Porziņģis to the Celtics this offseason.
