Netizens on social media have often credited Paul Pierce for his iconic championship in 2008, but they always side against him when it comes to the wheelchair incident. This might be the only time that the fans do not want to call him ‘The Truth’. Pierce left Game 1 of the 2008 finals in a wheelchair after he reportedly sustained a leg injury in the 3rd quarter. The 10x All-Star was going head-on-head with Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, but he had to go to the locker room for a few minutes to check if his leg was okay. However, the narrative of the fans is quite different.

Fans without a doubt believe Pierce sh*t himself and this has been a debate on the internet for more than a decade now. Well, the Boston Celtics icon decided to set things straight for one last time, but with some facts this time. Pierce firmly believes he had a concerning leg injury. He shared, “I’m feeling some discomfort in it…I put pressure on my knee…it’s still sore…I have a hot threshold for pain, by the way. I was stabbed 11 times and came back that same season.”

Pierce believes the adrenaline helped him get back in the game, so he is sure he was not faking an injury. Here comes the factual part. The 46-year-old left the game with 6 minutes, and 49 seconds left in the third quarter and he was back right before the 5-minute mark. He said, “Only like a minute or two went off the clock in the game. So if I had to go to the bathroom or sh*t on myself, you think it would only take 2 minutes? Come on now, let’s be for real. 2 minutes for me to change my shorts, my under shots, wipe my a**, get a wet towel, dry off, shower, put some new stuff on, and go back out there?… And If I did poop my pants, why would I sit in a wheelchair?”.

Pierce has shared a rant similar to this on several occasions previously. However, fans often deny his narrative by sharing a picture of a stain on his shorts to side against him. Well, Pierce has an answer for that as well!

The Celtics icon is quite furious at the new generation. He believes the fans are just pissed that he “busted” the Lakers 98-88. Pierce did have 22 points in that game in just 31 minutes. Anyhow, fans are not giving it to Pierce easily. Coming back to the stain on his shorts, he believes it was photoshopped. Well, this is a new take from the former NBA star. He is firm that social media wants to take the credit away from him and this was their plan to mock him.

However, he does not care about it anymore. He is happy to take the “villain” tag, as he believes he is not people’s favorite player in that matchup. The majority of the fans were indeed rooting for Bryant, but the Celtics were favored to win it that year. Now, Pierce has addressed this controversy bit by bit to deny all the rumors and allegations.
