The Memphis Grizzlies have lost their star player, Ja Morant, for the rest of the season after his recent injury. This timed perfectly with a recent viral tweet that the team was signing former NBA player Isaiah Thomas. Although the fans were excited about the news, it was soon discovered that was not the case, as it was made from a fake page.

With the post gaining over 2.9 million views on Twitter, Isaiah Thomas himself has now stepped in to clear the air. Although he is not signing with the Grizzlies, his NBA return might not be fully out of the question.

I wish that sh*t was true lol!!! You know I’m ready for that opportunity for sure!! That’s a fake a** page though. Keep your 🤞🏾 because something should be happening soon somewhere 👀,” wrote the 2x All-Star in response to the viral tweet.

After recently getting inducted into the Washington Huskies Hall of Fame, Thomas revealed that he was working out regularly and keeping himself ready to make a return to the NBA. He also added that he wants to be the head coach of the Huskies in the future.

A few years ago, Thomas was one of the best players in the NBA. His production on the court was so high that the Cleveland Cavaliers even gave up Kyrie Irving to bring Thomas to the team. But since then, injuries have derailed Thomas’ career. Now the former superstar is searching for a way back, but has he found one yet?

Isaiah Thomas is ready to go to Europe!

Thomas has not played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season. He is also one of the 22 players in NBA’s history to have appeared in a regular-season game for at least 10 different teams. In a conversation with ‘Forbes’ last year, he said, “I’m still trying to play the game of basketball. I want to get back to the NBA. So, I’m still working out and staying ready.”

So even if an NBA team does not give him a contract, Thomas has other options on his mind. Kemba Walker, who also played for the Boston Celtics and was a star in the NBA, is now playing in Europe. It looks like a route players are willing to take.

One take at a time

I did not follow the traditional route to become a journalist, but my love for basketball and writing has brought me here. Seeing LeBron James? Cleveland Cavaliers make the iconic comeback from a 1-3 deficit in 2016 changed everything for a young engineering aspirant within me. Rather than simply looking at the game, I love to analyze how each player contributes to a team using BPM (Box Plus Minus) and other advanced metrics.
