His idolization of his Airness was such that he followed his every single move. As a young high school player who had a vast and storied career ahead of him, he was influenced by Jordan. One of the few people who experienced Bryant’s life closely uncovered some unknown details about the player. To help him elevate his game, Bryant’s father Joe Bryant requested Dallas Mavericks coach God Shammgod to help him. Recently, as Shammgod sat for an interview, he spoke about the first time he met the young Kobe Bryant.

People love Jordan, not only for his skills but also for the unique connection he has with them. From fans to fellow players, people admired him and imitated his style as well. The veneration is not exaggerated at all. In a recent interview with Knuckleheads, Shammgod mentioned how Bryant too imitated Jordan’s style.

He said, “He walking like Jordan, chewing gum like Jordan, doing all that.”  Even as a pro player, we can see how much the Lakers legend admired Jordan’s game.

Bryant’s killer mentality and his brutal battling skills reminded everyone of Jordan’s playing days. In fact, their similarity is one of the reasons that the two are compared to each other. 

Interestingly, the 18-time NBA All-Star player’s admiration for the legend became a source of inspiration and wisdom for him.

Bryant was unbeatable and managed to reach the top with that energy and power. Reminiscing his first meeting with the Lakers’ legend, Shammgod revealed another story to the listeners.

It was not just the walk or the talk of Jordan that Bryant followed – he was closely looking at his playing style as well. Shammgod was surprised to witness Bryant’s game during their first encounter. He said, This man is taking all the shots. I’m like – hold up this is my first show.”
