Even though they have a hugely successful formula, the NBA on TNT crew isn’t shy in experimenting with the lineup. As a result, guest hosts have become a major part of the show these days. Whether it be Draymond Green, Candace Parker, or Jamal Crawford, the studio is open to anyone with hoop knowledge. But, as Charles Barkley found out in shock, it can also bring in some unexpected guests. Despite a deep history in American sports and close ties to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Barkley wasn’t expecting the latest TNT guest.

One of the greatest baseball players of all time, Alex Rodriguez was in attendance in Studio J of the TNT set. Seeing him, the Chuckster broke into an exclamation. “Is that Alex Rodriguez over there? What the hell?!” 

“When did you come in Alex?” Kenny “The Jet” Smith was quick to provide the information. “He came in here to hang out with us.”Barkley, however, was still perplexed by the appearance of the 2-time Golden Glove winner.

“I’m like, Damn that look just like Alex Rodriguez. That is Alex Rodriguez.” Despite his jubilation at seeing the 2009 World Champion, Charles, and Rodriguez may have a contentious bone to pick as Kenny would point out.

“You know what’s hilarious. I cannot wait to go in the back coz you’ve been talking so much smack about the [Minnesota] Timberwolves…They got the best record in the NBA.”Alex, of course, is a co-owner of the franchise and one of its most boisterous supporters.

Between A-Rod and Dana White, it was an eventful night in the studios for the NBA on TNT crew.

The PowerSlap Bet between Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley

During their usual banter, Chuck would propose a unique bet. Calling out Dana White to make it official, the Philadelphia 76ers legend would propose a unique “power slap” match between the two. Immediately on board, Shaquille O’Neal supplied a possible date as well.

However, soon after, the mind games and threats began with Shaq issuing a warning note to the Chuckster. Between his wondrous joy at seeing A-Rod, the anticipation of a fight with Shaq and the demoralizing $15 million loss on the Suns, it has been a wild night for The Round Mound of Rebound.
