The NBA talked about restarting the season at Disney World Resort in Florida. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks reported that according to sources, if any player catches the virus, or suffers any major injury, there would be,
‘No limitations on the number of players a team could sign to replace those lost, but there would be restrictions on those in the pool of eligible players.’
And according to Woj and Marks, the Brooklyn Nets could choose to take some players on, in light of this protocol. The team’s star players are already suffering major injuries. However, they also admitted that no one has set anything in stone, as yet.
Kevin Durant suffered an Achillies tendon injury back in 2019 during the Finals while he was still with the Golden State Warriors. Recently, he announced that he would no longer be a part of the resuming season.
“I don’t think I’m ready to play that type of intensity right now in the next month,” Durant told ESPN. “It gives me more time to get ready for next season and the rest of my career. My season is over. I don’t plan on playing at all.”
Durant is yet to play any minutes at all with the Nets.
Kyrie Irving, a known Nets’ icon, also suffered an unfortunate knee injury. Moreover, this came after a prolonged shoulder injury. Irving revealed that he would rather be with the team for moral support instead of playing.
Kyrie Irving suggested on the NBPA conference call today that it's possible he could join the Nets in Orlando this summer — as an inactive player supporting his teammates, sources said. Irving had season-ending shoulder surgery on March 3. https://t.co/MKrfaGQhwy

Their star player and potential star player, are both benched together. So the Nets won’t have any option but to sign on some players, “to fill the roster spots.”

This might end up as just the right move. The team needs to move on anyway. So the additions may help in the team’s plan to win the season without the two supposed major load carriers.
