The Houston Rockets have a lot going on this offseason. As they announce the arrival of their new head coach, Stephen Silas, fans are looking forward to seeing how he balances two dominant stars in the team, James Harden and Russell Westbrook.
However, there is a chance that he won’t need to do so.
The trade rumors are feeding us with all kinds of exciting news, and now, Russell Westbrook has been caught in the crossfire. As he failed to compliment Harden last season, the Rockets might be looking for someone who can.

The Rockets have repeatedly shown that they prioritize Harden, which means there is no way he could be the one leaving. Thus, they will try to build a roster around their superstar. And since Westbrook does not fit well in this plan, he might have to bid adieu.
Clippers and Knicks keen on trading for Russell Westbrook
According to Kevin O’Conner on ‘The Mismatch’, there are two teams who might be interested in Russell. “It is interesting, the last 24 hours. I did have multiple sources that I trust, tell me that teams believe Russell Westbrook could be had—that Westbrook could be had,” stated Kevin.
“And I’ve heard the Clippers have interest, I’ve heard the Knicks have interest in Westbrook. Whether anything materializes there, who knows? Who knows? But the fact is that there is a belief that a guy like Westbrook could become available.”

Harden and Westbrook have a close bond. But if the Clippers and Knicks provide quality pieces in return for Westbrook, there is no reason for the Rockets to not consider this trade.

Why should he stay with the Houston Rockets?
The Rockets’ playoff run ended when they lost to the eventual NBA champions, Los Angeles Lakers. However, it isn’t fair to only blame Westbrook for this elimination. Struggling with injuries last season, he wasn’t able to play at his best.
However, he still averaged 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists, playing just 57 games. Along with his career-high 47.2% from the field. With Silas as a coach, it is possible that the team might shift their focus from perimeter shooting. This is an area Westbrook was seen struggling in.

Therefore, moving Westbrook to suit Harden once again might be a little foolish.
