“Highest of High Regards”: NBA Veteran Re-establishes His Respect for Kobe Bryant on Twitter

Jamal Crawford is synonymous with longevity. He played exactly for two decades against the likes of Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and other greats of the game. Recently, he revisited his admiration for The Black Mamba.

In a podcast, Jamal had earlier named Kobe as the Jordan of the present generation. He had also pointed towards the late legend’s work ethic, his drive, and skills that made him one of the best ever. Now, he has shared something to mark his words.

Jamal Crawford on Kobe Bryant and his impact 

Kobe definitely left a dent in the world. His impact is not just restricted to the NBA ecosphere alone. In fact, his Mamba mentality has been picked by people across domains from all walks of life. 

The 40-year-old Jamal hinted towards the same and wrote, “Can’t ever not speak in the highest of high regards when you talk about Kobe. Greats in OTHER sports have adopted #MambaMentality !!”

The video Jamal shared had certain legends speaking highly about the 5-time NBA Champion. It had Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, and Julius Erving revealing what exactly made Kobe great. The fact that Kobe was NBA ready by the tender age of 17 proves why will always be remembered as one of the game’s greatest ever.

This one comment from the former 76ers legend summed it all when he expressed, “I think Jerry West was the one who said this, I want this kid, coz this kid has talent more than anybody I have playing for me right now, and he had a great team.”

Jamal Crawford did not enjoy the kind of success Kobe Bryant did, he did not even come close. Jamal entered 8 playoffs to Kobe’s 15. He never got himself inducted in an NBA All-star team while Kobe made history by finding his name there 18 times.

The LA fans of Jamal gave him the name LA.’s Dance Instructor after his five-year stint with the Clippers. All-in-all, he never achieved the recognition he deserved. The only consolation prize he ever received were the three times when he became the NBA Sixth Man of the Year. 

Nevertheless, Jamal played for 20 long years and showed how mental and physical fitness can take one a long way in life. Perhaps he also follows the Mamba Mentality.
