The NBA Drafts take place every year, but not every draft produces a phenom. It is just a handful of picks in a decade’s time that ever gain that legendary status. LaMelo Ball is one strong candidate for that supremacy. He recently stopped by for an interview to give an insight into his game.
The overall first-pick prospect of this year, LaMelo has breathed, consumed, and studied basketball all his life. He has elder brothers in Lonzo Ball (Pelicans) and LiAngelo Ball (G league). The 6’7” boy is just getting started.

What makes LaMelo Ball a lethal weapon?
His playmaking is stupendous. He is certainly going to be the crowd favorite just as he joins the league. Who would not want to witness a 90-feet pass that goes directly to the hands of an open teammate? LaMelo is a class apart, even at this young age.
In an interview, he revealed how his transition reads and single-handed dribble lobs are so accurate. He said, “Pretty much just the feel of the game. I’ve been doing this for a long time, developed it when I was young. It is pretty much how to make little passes like that, just little things.”
LaMelo’s father played a huge role in shaping him and all his brothers into the players they are today. Throwing light on the fact, he expressed, “My dad had us play real fast, and that’s from there, pretty much we take it on.”
He is not as athletic as many of his counterparts, but he holds a phenomenal pace in his game. His quick crossovers, sharp skills, and creative assists make him unique and almost unpredictable.
If not basketball, then what?
LaMelo is not the jack of all trades. He is, instead, the king of one. The rising star has a lot of mystery attached to his playing style. One wonders if he had played several sports from where he picked those skills.

He revealed, “No, my brothers did. They played a little Baseball, Football. But me, I was just strictly Basketball. We’re [indiscernible] on the street though, stuff like that.” When asked about the position he would play the best in American Football, he quickly noted, “I think I’d be a cool quarterback for real.”
And why not? He has a deep range off his big jumper. The 180 lbs player is still growing and will be counted amongst the big forces in the coming future. His defense is yet to see improvement, but that will be taken care of once he joins the NBA and plays under better coaches.
