An illustrious NCAA career that lasted for more than 4 decades correctly justifies his induction into the Hall of Fame. And what does he do when the moment arises? He looked up to the heavens and remembered his parents. That sums up what Mike Krzyzewski is all about.

Coach K remembers his Hall of Fame induction moment

Poppy Harlow sat down with the basketball legend and got to know more about Coach K’s special night when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Naismith. He said, “I was fortunate to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001. One of the parts of the speech and probably most emotional for me was when I said I wish my mom and dad were here tonight.” Following this, he choked on his voice a little and his eyes got teary then he continued, “I’m going to start crying.”

Coach K didn’t stop there and further continued his story. He added, “To see a Krzyzewski go into the Hall of Fame. It was emotional then, and it is emotional now because I recognized just the life they led to make sure me and Bill would be taken care of. Amazing.”
Apart from being a Hall Of Famer, Mike Krzyzewski has held numerous other accolades throughout his career.
What other honors does Coach K have?

Coach K has achieved a lot in his 42 years of service for the Blue Devils. Naismith recognized him as the College Coach of the Year on 3 separate occasions from 1989 to 1999. Moreover, he was the NABC Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1999. Earlier, in 1986 he won the UPI Coach of the Year award. Furthermore, he was named the ACC Coach Of The Year in 1984, 1986, 1997, 1999 and 2000.
There is no denying that Coach K’s elite list of accomplishments is unmatched. The passion and love he had for the sport is reflected in the many accolades bestowed upon him over the years. In addition to this, his legacy as a coach has resulted in placing the name Krzyzewski among immortals.
