Back in his Colorado days, Shilo Sanders had a specific way to celebrate at times. With knees touched and hips bent, he would swing side to side like some ’90s dance step. Well, to be specific, it was from his father, Deion Sanders’, Must Be the Money song. In fact, he used the same song to tease his mother, Pilar, back in April. Fast forward to now, and that same song can be played for Shilo’s situation, albeit sarcastically.

After he was cut from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and rejected by the San Francisco 49ers, Shilo Sanders might be tight on money. But, as Deion said before, if any of his children could make it, it would be Shilo. Why? Because he’s got talent– acting, humor, and a side that loves pranks. In a recent tweet posted by a fan, JaKi, that side of the Buffs alum is clearly visible.

In the attached video, Sanders was going from one random passerby to another, asking trivial questions when he stumbled upon someone showing him a notebook, possibly from a charity. As a response, the former Bucs safety said, “I just got cut from NFL, bro. I got no money, bruh. You gotta ask, like, Shedeur, bruh. It’s gone, bruh!”

Before leaving, though, Shilo Sanders also promised, “Look, if I ever get back in the league, I got you!” If the whole situation wasn’t already funny, the person in front also agreed, “Yeah, I did hear about that.”

However, what caught everyone’s attention was Shilo trying to redirect the request to his brother, Shedeur, who is still under the $4.6M/ 4-year contract with the Cleveland Browns in the NFL. Not just his NFL salary, but Shedeur was also among the top college athletes in terms of NIL valuation, with $6.5 million to his name back in Colorado. But for Shilo? His own expenses might be catching up with him.

In a recent YouTube video, Shilo kept up with the long-standing inside joke of the Sanders family about how Deion says his kids are not trust fund kids. But he also revealed being on a tight budget, saying, “I just got cut from the NFL, so I’m not trying to spend that much… I’m still waiting on my trust fund from my dad.” Ironically, he was shopping for wilderness gear for an alligator hunt at Gatorland with Danny Duncan.

Although the Sanders family has wealth, the picture is very different for the safety. This isn’t the first time Shilo has gone through financial hurdles. In October 2023, he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, showing assets only worth $320,000. Although that was a suspected tactical move, this time, with his NFL future in the dark, it might turn out to be true.

The Bucs took serious action against Shilo after he was ejected for throwing a punch in the preseason finale. A day later, he was released from the $2.9 million, three-year contract. His luck shone again when the Niners hosted him along with 6 other prospects after their DE Nick Bosa got injured. However, they signed Jaylen Mahoney to the practice squad.

Still, the opportunity itself was enough for Shilo Sanders to show his talent and health to the other NFL teams. Now, the Chicago Bears, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Buffalo Bills are looking to add depth to that spot on their rosters, and the former Bucs might have one more chance.

Until then, he is keeping his options open.

“He was in California last week meeting with a bunch of agents because he has the opportunity to do movies and sitcoms and stuff like that, and then YouTube content,” revealed his father, Deion.

Shilo’s Jack of all trades ability will give him another path to walk on if his NFL luck doesn’t pan out. But it is certainly good to see him still keeping up with his humor.
