The 2025 season has been a nightmare for Saints fans. With a terrible 2-8 record, the New Orleans Saints are going through the worst phase in franchise history. Clearly, the offensive unit has been thoroughly inconsistent, with numerous penalties and rookie quarterback Tyler Shough failing to convert games in the clutch moments. As such, veteran star Cam Jordan is no longer mincing his words when he speaks about the team.

“We’re losing, which you don’t want to happen. When you’re winning, you understand how you get there. You look over in Denver and see how they beat the Chiefs. It doesn’t matter how you get there, as long as you are able to finish them out,” Jordan said to the reporters while drawing bold comparisons with Bo Nix’s brilliance on Monday night.

The only wins that the Saints had were against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10 and the New York Giants in Week 5. The eight games they lost were a display of poor production, where they averaged only 3.9 yards per play. “We’re now sitting on the two and eight side…. you see Carolina closing out these close games; we have to be able to close out these close games,” Jordan added while referring to how Bryce Young and team snatched an overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11.

No doubt this is a big failure of strategy by head coach Kellen Moore, who was hired to oversee a major revamp. However, it has backfired big time. Shough has been struggling to run the ball and often crumbled to pressure in the second half. While the Saints play the Falcons in Week 12, it appears Coach Moore will be revising his game plan, as he rightly points out the biggest loopholes.

After last week’s bye, Tyler Shough and Co. will square off against Kirk Cousins & team on Sunday night, Nov 23. Speaking on the areas of improvement, Moore mentioned it is the endzone conversions that are crucial for the team. “Red zone is an area that you look into. Just because every time you’re down there, the value of a touchdown is huge. And so right now, that’s a big opportunity for us to grow in,” Moore said to the reporters on Monday.

The Saints are currently ranked No. 32 in the red zone touchdown percentage rankings. They have a poor conversion rate of 38.5%. Which shows how terribly the Saints’ offense crumbled in the fourth quarter, especially with a conversion rate of just 16.7% in the last three weeks every time they got possession of the ball.

The run game is equally terrible. Apparently, the Saints have never seen a 30+ yard rushing play by an RB since 2021. The Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets and Tennessee Titans are the other opponents lined up for Coach Moore this season before they finally meet the Falcons again to wrap up 2025.
