Hope has returned for the Chiefs, who may soon get key players back on the roster, especially those capable of boosting the offense. Starting the season 0-2, their worst under quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the team faced glaring issues, from short-yardage struggles to Mahomes’ passes being batted down. Now, the Chiefs finally seem to see a new light in offense with Wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Deepak Chona just reported that while the player can be an asset for the team in Week 3 if he plays but there’s a high risk of injury. “Lean toward playing Wk 3. Data favors strong production when active but HIGH re-injury risk,” the X post read. Just recently, Nate Taylor also reported that the team is “optimistic” about the player’s return.

He sustained a shoulder dislocation after a collision with Tight End Travis Kelce in the Week 1 game against the Chargers.

Mike Garafolo also reported Worthy’s participation in practice this week. With a pleasing update on his injury, Garafolo predicted that the player could return in Week 3. “Worthy did practice this week, and my understanding is he’s got a shot to play next week against the Giants here at MetLife Stadium,” Garafolo wrote. The team needs a Wide receiver who can open up the field by challenging defenses deep, and Worthy is capable of that.

In his 2024 rookie year, he caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns, leaving a strong impression on the team. However, the team has yet to provide any official update on the wide receiver’s return. Still, the Chiefs haven’t ruled out the risk of injury and have already started making moves on the practice squad.

As per sports analyst Charles Goldman, wide receiver Hal Presley was released from the practice squad, while linebacker Cole Christiansen was signed to strengthen the defensive unit.

Christiansen is a familiar name to the Chiefs, having spent nearly two years with the team. While he adds depth and leadership to the defense, the Chiefs will look to elevate his offensive contributions. Apart from Worthy, another player is expected to return to the roster for Week 3.
