Early in her career, Kayal Nicole had posted some questionable tweets on her X account. Now that those posts have resurfaced, people are calling Nicole out for her past mistakes. The social media influencer and model expressed regret for her previous actions and reiterated that she has changed since then. She made it clear that the opinions expressed in those earlier posts do not represent who she is now.

“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago. Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I’m ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way. They were ignorant, hurtful, and completely wrong,” Kayla Nicole wrote on her Instagram story. “The woman I am today would never use those words or express those kinds of views. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how cruel and harmful online hate can be, and I would never want to add to that world of pain in any form. I have since deleted those tweets and my X account entirely, because I refuse to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate.”

The reference appears on the album’s third track, “Opalite,” which is a love song about the athlete.

“You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone and you were just a pose,” Taylor Swift sings on the song.

Media outlets and fans alike believe that Swift’s song, ‘Opalite,’ on her new album, is referencing Kelce’s past relationship with Nicole and are also convinced that it is linked to her questionable tweets. The narrative gained momentum as archived commentary from Nicole and a viral video of Kelce surfaced, amplifying the connection.

Kelce added in the video, “Oh, my god. Get off your phone. Get off your phone … You’re not even drinking your wine anymore, can we go?”

Supporters and detractors engaged in online debates as the topic gained traction. While some used Nicole’s rediscovered content to question the motivations behind her recent social media activity, others framed it as a warning about the permanence of digital content. Sound off in the comments.
