We can officially name Jonathan Taylor “Mr Dependability.” The Indianapolis Colts running back lived up to that title with a record-shattering performance in the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Berlin, Germany.

He surpassed Edgerrin James for the most career rushing touchdowns (64 rushing touchdowns in 96 games) in franchise history. Taylor now boasts 66 career rushing TDs in just 77 games. A milestone he reached during the Colts’ thrilling 31-25 overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons.
Right after the game, an out-of-breath Taylor joined broadcaster Stacey Dales on the sidelines. Dales praised his “land of hat tricks” performance and noted Taylor’s desire to be remembered as “Mr Dependability.” When asked about surpassing the franchise legend, Taylor offered a message of respect for all the greats who came before him.

“Not only Edgerrin, you think about the guys who we had in this organization beforehand, and they’re legends, but the stories around the building are that they came into work every day, put their hard hat on. And to now be named amongst those guys is something very special and I’m gonna hold it near to my heart,” he added as Colts General Manager Chris Ballard showed his pride with a kiss on Taylor’s cheek.

Taylor also humbly credited his success to the trust of his teammates and coaches.

“It means a lot that my teammates, my coaches, they trust me. But at the end of the day, it comes down to displaying that on the field every Sunday. And we did it all together today,” Jonathan said.
Taylor’s record-setting day was no fluke. He exploded for three touchdowns and a whopping 244 rushing yards on 32 carries. He proved that he was the offensive constant amid team errors. His performance included grinding out the final 33 yards on five straight carries during the overtime victory against Atlanta.

Mr Dependability’s 15 rushing touchdowns this season lead the league, and he’s surpassed 1,100 rushing yards. His ability to perform under pressure and change the game demonstrated why the Colts are 8-2 and still looking ahead to what’s next in a season that could see Taylor cross a 2,000-yard rushing threshold.
And that’s not all. Taylor rewrote another chapter in history with his performance, solidifying his place among the greats.

Jonathan Taylor’s record-breaking 83-yard TD run
In a game packed with twists, Taylor’s 83-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter was the play that shifted momentum. That run is the longest rushing play of the season, breaking the previous mark of 81 yards set by the Falcons’ Bijan Robinson. And it’s not only a personal career best but also gave Indianapolis a crucial lead in the game’s decisive moments.
“You really train for things like that…Being able to still be efficient, just get back to the line of scrimmage. And then once you get to the line of scrimmage, make things happen,” Taylor said, talking about the run. “Just being able to have teammates like mine, the receivers, still busting their tails downfield to get a block, it means a lot.”

Later, Taylor sealed the Colts’ overtime victory with a game-winning 8-yard touchdown run. Despite facing a questionable refereeing call earlier in the second quarter, he stayed focused and delivered when it mattered most.
