With their season teetering on the brink, the last thing the Dallas Cowboys needed was another disruption. Earlier, they had to make changes in the roster after Marshawn Kneeland’s untimely death. However, this time, Mother Nature had other plans for their Week 11 preparations, leading Dak Prescott and his players to change their practice decision at the last minute.

On November 14, the players stood at The Star in Frisco when the wind started blowing up. At one point, it became so windy that they had to move their practice indoors at Ford Center. According to the weather reports, Dallas faced a 13.2 miles per hour wind speed, forcing the practice session to be held indoors.
For the Cowboys, it’s a matter of regrouping fast, as they have already lost back-to-back games and sit in the second position in the NFC East with a 3-5-1 record. Overall, they are not in the playoff picture currently. But Dak Prescott wants to end the 3-decade championship drought this season. So, no matter the weather conditions, they are fully committed to finding the rhythm in practice.

Although the team has practiced indoors multiple times before, fans often get worried whenever they announce the decision. Their fear takes them back to 2009.
The Dallas Cowboys’ indoor practice facility collapsed during strong storm winds, injuring 12 people and leaving special teams coach Joe DeCamillis with a broken back in that year. The building, known as the Bubble, was made of white canvas stretched over curved aluminum frames. It came down at around 3:30 p.m. during a thunderstorm. At the time, 27 rookies were practicing inside for a three-day mini-camp. In total, about 70 people were in the building.

Hence, the Cowboys didn’t want to take any further risk. In fact, a couple of days ago, the Patriots faced cold weather conditions at Gillette Stadium. Coach Mike Vrabel even offered players to work indoors. But Drake Maye and the team chose to practice outside.
As per Maye, it’s “good to get used to playing in that weather…I think it’s an advantage.”

But for the Cowboys, any stubborn windy conditions cannot benefit, especially after the 2009 tragic incident. For now, they are focused on winning the game. However, for November 17, the weather report has already predicted some showers.
Dak Prescott has to battle clouds to win the week 11 game
On November 17, 2025, Las Vegas sets the tone for Week 11 as the Cowboys meet the Raiders inside the glowing dome of Allegiant Stadium. The city outside stays loud and restless, but the weather paints a different mood. Scattered showers roll across the desert, and small rumbles of thunder drift in the distance.

Thick clouds cover most of the sky, and the night cools toward 51°F at the kickoff. When the game begins, light rain is expected to move across the area, brushing the stadium roof. The temperature sits near 55°F, though the air feels closer to 50°F. A steady southwest wind blows at 10 mph, with gusts reaching 14 mph. The humidity stays high, and visibility outside holds near 9 miles. The weather stays stubborn for Dak Prescott and the visitors.
Through the second and third quarters, the scene might barely change. Showers keep drifting in and out, the temperature slips slowly to 53–54°F, and the same cool breeze continues to push from the southwest. The sky remains mostly cloudy at 61% coverage, and the air grows a bit heavier as humidity rises. Visibility drops a touch but still sits around 8-9 miles.
By the fourth quarter, the rain might finally ease, but only slightly. Scattered showers still move through; however, the chance of rain drops to about 15 percent. Moreover, the temperature stays close to 53°F, and the wind keeps its steady rhythm from the southwest, with the same light gusts. Clouds still hang overhead, and the desert night holds on to its damp.

However, per predictions, Dak Prescott has a high chance of winning against the Raiders, who sit at a 2-7 record after 10 weeks. But during the game, anything can happen. The YouTube TV-Disney blackout has also ended, so expect a lot more viewership this time around.
