The New England Patriots‘ Week 11 win against the New York Jets ends with a message to Mike Vrabel from their quarterback, Drake Maye. With running back Rhamomdre Stevenson out with a toe injury, QB Maye made it clear he doesn’t want to change the things that are working for the team with TreVeyon Henderson playing in place of Stevenson.

Maye didn’t mince words when asked about the recent rise of the rookie running back. Instead, he delivered a message to keep Henderson in the team.

“Honestly, don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. He’s just stepping up,” Maye said about Henderson. “I think it was a big time for him stepping up, and it’s been great for him to get all these reps, to keep getting these reps. He wants to be great. He’s just showing up every day and asking questions.”

Maye went so far as to label Henderson as a player who “keeps showing up every day” and is helping mold the current identity of the offense. He acknowledged Stevenson’s eventual return, but the message was clear: the offense is rolling with Henderson, and Maye doesn’t want that momentum disrupted.

”I think just continuing for him to keep going the coming weeks,” Maye said. ”Looking forward to have Mondre back, but TreVeyon stepped up huge.”

In other words, Maye is vouching for Henderson to keep a starting role, even if it means Stevenson loses his starting job for the time being. That’s the message being sent directly to Mike Vrabel.

Maye’s comments came in the aftermath of win against the Jets, in which Henderson proved to be at his absolute best. The rookie running back has seized every opportunity presented by Stevenson’s absence, providing production that has done more than fill the void but change the dynamic of the offense.

Henderson became the only rookie after Hall of Famer Curtis Martin in Patriots history who has multiple rushing touchdowns in back-to-back games. He’s the first Patriots rookie ever to score five touchdowns over a two-game span. And he joined Rob Gronkowski and Sony Michel as the only New England rookies to find the end zone three times in one game.

The 38th overall pick out of Ohio State has seen his snap count doubled over the last three weeks and responded with production that simply can’t be ignored. While Stevenson remains a respected veteran presence, Henderson’s explosiveness has changed the shape of the offense.

However, the Patriots still had some issues. They allowed their sixth opening-drive touchdown of the season.

Drake Maye didn’t just send a message to Vrabel; he delivered yet another MVP-caliber performance.

Maye strengthens MVP case in eighth straight win

Maye has solidified his status as the NFL’s MVP favorite after his Week 11 performance. He finished 25-of-34 for 281 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.

This was the Patriots’ eighth consecutive win. The base of it all has been Maye’s consistency. He is completing 71.8 percent of his passes this season with 20 touchdowns to just five interceptions.

As the Patriots fans chanted “MVP! MVP!” for Maye, this win marked more than just another victory, it was a testament to a franchise reborn under Vrabel’s guidance. And if Drake Maye gets his way, TreVeyon Henderson will remain at the center of that transformation.
