In 2024, the Jets had complications from the start. In his final year of his contract, their LB Haason Reddick was set to make $14.5 million. But he had different plans and revolted. He wanted a long-term contract and didn’t attend the mandatory minicamp and training sessions. After missing the first games of the season, the linebacker and the Jets agreed to a reworked contract. Now, after the team was eliminated from the season, he has managed to earn a good amount, despite mediocre performance.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini claimed that the linebacker has earned $9.5 million this year from the Jets. Despite the fines up to millions and missing game time, he has completed his targets about time as per his contract terms and conditions. It’s shocking though, as his performance hasn’t been really top-notch.

Haason Reddick has only started 1 game for the Jets. In 9 games this season, he has 11 tackles (8 solo) and 0.5 sacks. Additionally, he is the only linebacker in the league without a full sack, with minimum 175 rushes. So, him earning millions shows how wealthy the teams are.

However, the Jets couldn’t benefit by splurging the money. They already have a 4-12 win-loss record after week 17. And the fans’ wait for a playoff appearance continues since 2010. The HC-GM pair of Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas were fired in the middle of the season. So, many players’ future is in jeopardy.

Aaron Rodgers is one of them. While Haason Reddick had contract issues, A-Rod couldn’t get along with Saleh before the season began. Later, during the season, news popped up with issues between the quarterback and the owner, Woody Johnson.

Aaron Rodgers anticipates his last NFL game

Now, as we approach the business end of the season, tremendous revelations are coming up. On Wednesday, the QB was questioned if the week 18 game against Dolphins could be his last game. He bluntly replied, “Yeah, of course.” That’s a shocker.

While diving further into the scenario with the Jets, he added, “I’m just more resigned to the reality of the situation. I think there’s going to be change here, and if I’m (not) a part of the change, then I just want to make sure everybody knows I have nothing but gratitude for my time here.” So, he is anticipating that he would not play for the Jets in 2025.

It’s confirmed that the Jets would be in the shopping mood for a GM and HC after the season. After Aaron Rodgers’ admission, they might add a QB in the list as well. His individual performance hasn’t been too inspiring. During the week 17 game against Bills, he became the most sacked QB in the NFL history with 568 sacks in 247 games.

Johnson would be assessing his options in the market. They might draft a rookie QB, but things would be clear once the new HC-GM is there. It would be interesting to watch.
