Wink Martindale is not only an accomplished defensive coordinator but also a man who doesn’t shy away from lighter moments. As the media frenzy continued regarding his future with the New York Giants, he outlined his mindset. The same mindset that has made him as successful as he is.

This season has been a horrid one for the Giants, going 4-8 and out of the playoffs. Naturally, the finger-pointing has started. Many suggest that HC Brian Daboll and DC Martindale do not have the chemistry. Amidst all of this, Martindale clarified some details.

A Super Bowl winner with the Baltimore Ravens, Wink Martindale was hired as the DC just days after Brian Daboll was hired as the HC for the Giants in 2022. Though their second season together isn’t going as their first one did, their spirits are not down. As a reporter enquired about the struggle between the two, DC hilariously said, “I don’t see eye-to-eye with my wife all the time”.

The 60-year-old continued in a serious manner, saying, “He’s the head coach and it’s my job to forward his plan. That’s what I’m going to do”. His stoic attitude is unquestionable, but when questioned about his future, he puts on the funny hat once again.

“Hopefully, it’s a raise”, Martindale quipped regarding his future with the Giants. He also said, “You just don’t know what’s going to happen. I can’t predict the future. I’m still here today”. And since he is still there, he must face a surging Green Bay Packers next.

The Packers are coming off a thrilling comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-19. The Giants are also on a roll with wins over the Commanders and the Patriots. Both teams are third in their divisions and have a slim chance of making the playoffs as wild-card teams.

The Packers have won four of their last five meetings with the Giants dating back to 2018. But this year they are without their talisman, Aaron Rodgers, and the Giants will want to capitalize on that.
