It’s another week, another disappointment for the New York Jets. They were hoping for a turnaround in their Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, but it never came. While the Dolphins committed just six penalties for 40 yards, the Jets were flagged 13 times, costing them a staggering 101 yards. In the end, they fell short, losing 21-27. For head coach Aaron Glenn, it was a heartbreaking outcome.

Speaking to the reporters during the post-game conference, the coach addressed the issue regarding penalties. He said, “We gotta figure that out. We gotta figure it out. And that’s the part I’m saying that’s disappointing. Because man, we go through certain times where we do a hell of a job, especially with the pre-snap penalties, and then man, we just revert back and listen, I know that you can’t fix things in a couple of weeks and things like that, but we have to be better than that. And I know we can be better than that.”

There’s a reason everyone is worried about the NY Jets conceding penalties. In all 4 games, they have lost a good number of yards. Even against the Dolphins, they turned the ball over 3 times. That hurts. During the season opener against the Steelers, they lost 74 yards for 7 penalties compared to their 26 for 4. Aaron Glenn forced his coaches and locker room to pay attention as they only gave away 35 yards for 5 penalties against the Bills (69 for 6) in week 2. In the week 3 matchup against the Buccaneers, they again gave away 81 yards for 7 penalties.

Add that to the poor performance of their offense, and the issue becomes huge. The Jets are 7th in the rushing yards (522) and have scored 4 touchdowns, but they have also fumbled 4 rushing TDs. The receiving game has been ever poorer, ranking 19th in the league in receiving yards (73 receptions for 834 yards) while scoring 7 touchdowns.

These combinations of mistakes have cost them dearly as they sit winless after 4 weeks. The only thing Gang Green hopes is that things will change in the second month of the season. But for now, the locker room bore the brunt of the season.

Aaron Glenn gets angry over locker room

The players witnessed his anger firsthand. ESPN reporter Rich Cimini revealed that he heard voices coming out of the Jets locker room. It was Aaron Glenn screaming at his players. The reporter tweeted, “Hearing loud voice through the wall of the Jets’ locker room as we sit in the press room: Sounds like an angry Aaron Glenn screaming at the team. And he has a right to be pissed. #Jets

Justin Fields and his men never looked in a solid position to win the game. While the Phins piled up plays after play, the Jets first trailed them 3-10 at halftime. Even after Tyreek Hill got injured and left the field, Fields could not mount his offense. His own performance was disappointing.

Fields only recorded 19 of 26 passes for 198 yards and 1 touchdown. On the other hand, Tua Tagovailoa scored 2 touchdowns after completing 17 of 25 for 177 yards. That made the difference. Now, Aaron Glenn is the first first-year head coach since Adam Gase to start 0-4. They are already under pressure as their divisional rivals Bills, have gone 4-0.

Will the Jets take off next week or stand still? The week 5 game against the Cowboys is a high-stakes matchup now.
