The Vikings have made an exceptional comeback by registering three wins on the trot. Last Sunday they went against the Packers and won the game 24-10 comprehensively. This was only made possible by Kirk Cousin’s breakthrough performance as he went on to register 2 TDs that sealed the deal. Just when things were going great, thunder struck and hit the Vikings! And even though they have a new QB to look forward to, will the victory dynamics remain the same for the team?

Joshua Dobbs finds his place among the Vikings

In the match against the Packers, Cousins tore his Achilles heel and was taken off the field. Although he was playing well throughout the season with many injuries, this one can take him off the field for the entire season. Thus, in the race to secure an expandable QB option, the Vikings did not hesitate in trading with the Cardinals to acquire Josh Dobbs. It was the official social media handle of NFL on X that shared this update.

Undoubtedly, QB Josh Dobbs is an exceptional player, but the question remains, will he be able to fill the shoes of Kirk Cousins? Let’s find out by comparing the stats provided by the NFL. Dobbs has over 1,500 passing yards and has secured 8 TDs for the Cardinals in eight games with a rating of 81.2. While these stats are looking good on their own, how do they rack up when we compare them with Cousins?

How will Dobbs match Cousins’s Heroics?

Kirk Cousins has secured an astounding 18 TDs, more than double of what Dobbs has been able to achieve. Also, Cousins is more than 800 yards ahead of Dobbs in terms of passing yards and his ratings are far better than Dobbs and stands at 103.8. His breakthrough came against the Eagles in the week 2 game where he secured 4 TDs, albeit in a losing cause.

There is no doubt that Cousins was bearing the burden of the Vikings offense single-handedly. Now, the Dobbs have two tasks at hand, first is to get settled with his new team pretty quickly and second is to make sure that the Vikings will not feel Cousin’s absence. It’s an uphill task for sure but it gives Dobbs the platform to shine even more.
