NFL draft season was a whirlwind of tactical and dramatic moves, as always. A new video on X gives an insight into the draft games played by the GMs. Capturing a conversation between Rams’ GM Les Snead and Commanders’ GM Adam Peters, the two discuss interesting draft implications. 

Snead seemingly teased a QB, with speculation pointing towards Jayden Daniels, a promising college talent at the time. It’s no secret that the Commanders took the QB in the 2024 NFL draft. Much of the pre-draft talk on the phone was centered on LSU QB Jayden Daniels. 

On June 4, Rams released one such video, called “Behind the Grind, Inside the Draft.” Les Snead and Ray Farmer, the senior personnel officer, were driving when they called Peters. The clip featured both GMs engaged in a fun chit-chat right before the draft.

The lighthearted conversation, however, raised a broader question. Was this Snead stating he wanted to move into the top five and pick Daniels? Or was he just cracking a joke, knowing the Commanders would always take Daniels? The snippet on X was from the LA Rams YouTube show “Behind The Grind” 

The Grind Of Draft

In the Draft of 2024, 6 out of 12 first round pics were QBs. Looking at this the Rams HC Sean McVay was shocked saying “Not even a single defensive player yet?” Talking about HC, Snead said “Sean is an unbelievable partner. We have a nice yin & yang.” In the episode McVay reciprocates the same sentiments toward Snead, saying “I trust you. I am with you.”

Both have been working together for 7 years and their comaraderie is palpable. Especially during the drafts, when each of them depend on the other person’s conviction. Together, that have drafted some talented players like Cooper Cupp and have won a super bowl.

Their strategy and planning to draft Jared Verse the defensive end of Florida State was a treat to watch. Things really got heated when they wanted to draft Verses’s friend from Florida state Braden Fiske DT. Making Verse himself talk to his friend before drafting. It was an emotional moment for the Florida teammates.

At the pressor, Snead spoke about that very moment, commenting that it was one of the best moment of his drafting career. McVay too seemed very hyped about all the 10 pics that they made in the draft. It is to be seen who will be in the starting lineup and who will be benched. No matter what, from Sneads end, it was a great draft for the Rams. Only time will tell what’s to come.
