The Las Vegas Raiders were handed yet another embarrassing 33-16 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys. Unsurprisingly, the team’s disastrous season has heated up head coach Pete Carroll’s seat. However, DE Maxx Crosby had a rather bizarre reaction to his coach’s shaky situation.

When asked about the possibility of their coach being fired and the Raiders’ situation, Crosby simply laughed before responding. But this gesture shouldn’t be mistaken.

“I mean, every year is going to be different. As far as the culture, unfortunately, we’ve had a lot of different coaches here,” he laughed. “It’s not funny, but you’ve got to find some joy in it. So, yeah, the culture is going to change with different coaches and things of that nature. But, I mean, ultimately, it’s about winning. I’m trying to win,” he concluded.

That laughter seemed to carry a hint of frustration. He has been with the Raiders since 2019. And the team has gone through several changes during this time. He has seen the team go through three head coaches and three general managers.

Most recently, both head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco were fired, making the situation tragic. Following that, back in January of this year, Caroll was acquired. Not just the HC, but their quarterback also has not had a good season so far.

Now, there had been much hype around quarterback Geno Smith earlier this season, but he has struggled to make an impact. He threw another interception against the Cowboys while the offense struggled to score. The Raiders currently sit fourth in the AFC West with a 2-8 record.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys dominated. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes, and the team fielded a revamped defense featuring an impressive tackle group, including Quinnen Williams, who recorded a sack in his first game with Dallas.

The Raiders couldn’t keep up. They had a pass-heavy game plan that didn’t help the team, and their defense gave up 381 yards and 33 points. If the players are frustrated over the loss, it’s no surprise that fans are upset as well. Soon, questions began circulating about whether the coach would be fired.

Pete Carroll gets heavy backlash after the loss to the Cowboys

After the game, the coach addressed the team’s issues and aggressive approach, taking the blame for the loss.

“There’s only one person to look at, it’s me,” Carroll shared. “Because I was an influence on the game plan. I loved the way we were chunking them, and we made big plays. I knew what was happening, Chip and I knew what was going on. But we were trying to stay with it, to see if we could continue to get the big plays, which we were getting. And then we just stalled in the red zone.”

He also briefly touched upon the team’s inability to stop one of the Cowboys’ top wide receivers, George Pickens. The WR racked up 144 yards and a touchdown. However, it seems that Raiders fans are growing frustrated with the team’s back-to-back losses. The team is currently on a four-game losing streak.

“The Raiders need to fire Pete Carroll,” a fan wrote on social media. “He is destroying this team.”

Caroll was hired in hopes of lifting the team, given his success (Super Bowl XLVIII victory) with the Seattle Seahawks. However, things have taken a different turn here in Las Vegas, and it remains to be seen what can help the coach turn the tide.
