When Lamar Jackson didn’t participate in the practice session on Wednesday because of his hamstring injury, it was clear that the Ravens are taking a wait-and-see approach. When asked about the injury, Head Coach John Harbaugh said, “We’ll just go day by day through the week, you’ll see the injury reports,”. We now have an update regarding Lamar Jackson’s injury and his participation in the practice session.

Now, according to Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley, Lamar hasn’t participated in the practice session for a second straight day because of his hamstring injury. Also, Safety Kyle Hamilton missed the practice session on Thursday after being limited yesterday.

The injury that forced Jackson to leave the losing game in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs looks more severe than what everybody expected. Although the Ravens had already lost grip on the game when Jackson left, it was HC John Harbaugh who confirmed that Jackson would not return for the game. Now that Lamar has missed the practice for two straight days, it is most likely that he will be out of the Ravens’ Week 5 game against the Houston Texans

The Ravens are already dealing with multiple injuries, but none of them would impact the team as much as Lamar’s hamstring injury. Ravens do need Lamar on the roster while getting out of the 1-3 start of the season. The Ravens might have just a single victory in the winning column, but that doesn’t match what Jackson has delivered on the field.

Jackson has been exceptional with the ball on the gridiron throughout the first 4 weeks of the NFL 2025 season. With a 71.6 completion percentage, Jackson has thrown for 869 yards. He is even leading the season in three categories- yards per attempt (9.1), touchdown passes (10), and passer rating (130.5).

The already struggling Ravens will surely look forward to Jackson’s comeback, but in the meantime, they will turn towards Cooper Rush as their Starter against the Texans. It will be interesting to see how Rush manages to fill in for the in-form Jackson.

Cooper Rush enters the lineup as teammates and HC rally behind him

Ravens have been feeling positive about Rush taking up the big role. Ravens’ wide receiver shared a similar message while talking about his comfort level with Rush. “Coop’s done an amazing job since he’s been here,” Bateman said through the official website of the team. “We’ve got all the trust that he’ll get the job done.”

Even HC, John Harbaugh, thinks that Rush is ready to deliver against the Texans. “Cooper’s experience, he’s been in these situations before, he’s up to speed. He’s been with us all the way back to the beginning. He’s been in every practice, every meeting, he knows the offense, and he’ll be ready to go.” John Harbaugh said.

Ever since the kickoff of the 2025 NFL season, Rush never received significant playing time with the Ravens. But that changed when Jackson left the gridiron against the Chiefs. Jackson was replaced with Rush, and he went for 9-of-13 for 52 yards.

While many may doubt Rush’s ability, especially after what Jackson has delivered but Rush’s stats are there to back him up. That might be the reason why the Ravens are rallying for him. Rush has played 14 games with the Cowboys and went 4-1 in 2022. This came when he filled in as the starter after Dak Prescott’s injury. Then in 2024, he went 4-4. This shows, he can win games for his team.
