The NFL recently unveiled the rosters for the Pro Bowl Games. It will follow an exciting series of events, including skills competitions beginning on February 1 and culminating in a flag football game at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium on February 4. This comes after the league’s 2022 decision to shift from the traditional full-contact all-star matchup to a more skills-focused format.
However, a key player from the Denver Broncos, boasting commendable statistics, was notably missing from the list. While the Broncos managed to get three players on the list, excluding their QB has stirred conversations and debates.

The Broncos are making a significant impact on the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. They have three of their players securing starting positions for the AFC. Cornerback Pat Surtain II and safety Justin Simmons are celebrating their second selection to the Pro Bowl. Meanwhile, rookie return specialist Marvin Mims Jr. is making his first appearance, as announced by the NFL.

On the other hand, the absence of Broncos’ quarterback Russell Wilson from the Pro Bowl nominations has become a topic of debate. Wilson was not selected despite a strong 2023 season where he started 15 games, completed 297 out of 446 attempts, and scored 3,070 yards. Not just that, his achievements included an average of 6.9 yards per attempt, 26 touchdowns, and a 98 passer rating.

Additionally, he contributed to the ground game with 341 rushing yards and three touchdowns. However, his 10 fumbles, losing possession in half of these instances, may have influenced his Pro Bowl omission. To add salt to this wound, Sean Payton has benched him.

Denver Broncos strategically benched Russell Wilson
The Broncos made a noteworthy decision, as NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. They have benched Russell Wilson for the season’s last two games. They started Jarrett Stidham against the Chargers.
This move, more than just a shift in the quarterback lineup, is financially motivated to safeguard against Wilson’s $37 million injury guarantee in 2025, which becomes fully guaranteed in March. While Wilson will still dress as the backup QB for Week 18, this benching is a significant indicator that the Broncos might consider a departure from their two-year journey with Wilson.

The decision, possibly led by Sean Payton and the team, leans toward transitioning away from the 35-year-old quarterback in the 2024 season. What do you think about this? Let us know below.
