It seems like the Kansas City Chiefs is not the only team its quarterback is a fan of. The Adidas headquarters witnessed a crossover between the NFL and soccer as Patrick Mahomes paid a visit. This is not the first time, though! In a viral video, Liverpool fans were seen choosing the Chiefs as their wishful winner of the Super Bowl. With the quarterback’s recent Adidas visit, it seems like the sentiment is reciprocated.

Mahomes has been a long-time endorser with Adidas and has released several shoe lines in collaboration with the brand. During his recent visit to the brand’s Germany headquarters, the quarterback ran into the manager of Liverpool. The photo was reshared by Mahomes as an Instagram story, urging surprised fans to speculate if Mahomes is a fan of the club.

In the picture, the Chiefs’ quarterback is seen posing alongside the Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp. They’re joined by the captain of the South African rugby team, Siya Kolisi, and the brand’s CEO, Bjorn Gulden. Kolisi is seen holding symbols of the crossover, a football, and a soccer ball with signatures. The CEO, Gulden, posted another photograph with Mahomes and captioned it with praises for the QB.

While the quarterback has been in a partnership with Adidas since his drafting in 2017, Liverpool’s GM joined hands with the brand in 2020. This crossover is reminiscent of the fun clip on Liverpool FC’s YouTube page.

The team’s players are seen picking their choice of winner ahead of the Super Bowl LVIII. The majority of athletes chose Kansas City, with one player even proclaiming Mahomes as the driving force behind the predicted win. “Chiefs, because the MVP is going to win the game… Mr. Patrick Mahomes.”

However, this was not Mahomes’ first encounter with the sport. In fact, he has a strong connection to a former soccer player.

Mahomes’ soccer connection

While the idea of Mahomes being a Liverpool fan remains debatable, soccer is not an unexplored arena for the quarterback. His wife, Brittany, had a professional career in soccer and even owns a women’s soccer team with Mahomes. She played forward for the Texas-Tyler Patriots in college and later in UMF Afturelding, a club from Iceland. After retiring and returning to Kansas City after Mahomes’ draft, Brittany revived her love for the sport as a founding owner of a women’s soccer team.

Brittany got the ownership share of the National Women’s Soccer League’s team from Kansas City in 2020 and was joined by her husband in the endeavor three years later. In 2023, the three-time MVP became the part-owner of the KC Current. Mahomes shares the ownership with his wife Brittany, Chris Long, and Angie Long.
