One of the most typical visualizations of team coaches is them yelling at the players. However, a change in the scenario is starting to happen, beginning with the Miami Dolphins’ head coach. He embodies an excellent leader, as his unique coaching approach focuses on balancing emotional connection, work and life, and personal well-being. 

From a coaching intern to one of the best NFL head coaches in 18 years, Mike McDaniel deserves all the attention he’s getting. Ever since he joined the Dolphins for his first NFL head coaching job in 2022, he has drawn admiration from famous sports figures, including Pat McAfee. In a recent Twitter post, Pat McAfee unleashed his appreciation for Mike McDaniel, who called Jaylen Waddle’s touchdown before it happened. The former NFL punter posted of the Dolphins head coach, “Hey… McDaniel is the real deal. I love this man.” 

Mike McDaniel may be the only HC manifesting touchdowns. “I’m really visualizing a one-play drive,” the Dolphins HC said on the sidelines before his star player secured a phenomenal feat. The 25-year-old WR secured a 65-yard touchdown in their recent game, where they delivered a blowout 30-0 defeat to the New York Jets

Mike McDaniel’s leadership revealed in his performance with the Dolphins

The Colorado native may not have a long experience as an NFL head coach. But he had been involved in assistant coaching posts for several NFL teams since his internship in 2005 with the Denver Broncos. In his debut season with the Dolphins, he led the team to the playoffs, becoming the fifth of 11 coaches in the team’s history to get a playoff appearance.

One of the best things he did was mold several players, including QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill, to achieve career milestones. WR Jaylen Waddle is also thriving under McDaniel’s coaching. He stole the spotlight in the last game and recorded 1,356 receiving yards in his second NFL season, setting the team’s record at third as the most single-season record.
