On November 9, 2023, on The Pat McAfee Show live on Thursday, McAfee talked about Mahomes’ legacy while discussing the Chicago Bears. One of McAfee’s co-hosts stated, “If you’re a Bears fan, like they’ll circle that for the next 50 years because that’s a Mahomes draft. And it’s like they could have had him…” That’s when McAfee opened the door to an interesting scenario for fans of the Chicago Bears. To this, the show host could only sarcastically reply, “Yeah, I’m sure Mahomes would be Mahomes if he were in the Bears organization.

He later amended his statement and softened the blow, saying, “Great players can certainly do things.” The analyst then also added, “Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid together is a tag team.” He firmly stated that he thinks one big reason behind Mahomes’ success is the “Andy Reid oversight of it all.”

The QB commented, “I’ve always said that it’s the way he relates to you as a person. He makes you be the best person that you can be, and like you’re saying, he lets you be you.

Mahomes continued, “He always says let your personality show, and that’s why I think you can see that he can get any player, and he can fit him into the team, and they can have success. And, like I’m saying, he truly cares about the people. He cares about you as a person more than he cares about you as a player.” And that’s what the QB stated to prove that Reid is a great coach.
