On a recent episode on Tom Brady’s Let’s Go podcast, Tom Brady finds a similar ground with the Tony Award winner on gratitude. Denzel Washington stated that as he moves towards the fourth quarter of his life, it’s all about “being thankful for what I have and sharing what I know with others, not just what I have.” The NFL GOAT went on to urge the 68-year-old to talk about the blessings that have been bestowed upon him saying, “I feel very similar with the gratitude that I have.”

Tom Brady looks up to the actor not only as a professional figure but also how who gives back to the community by playing an amazing role in people’s lives. He added, “You make it look easy. But I’m sure it’s not.” Denzel Washington, who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022, goes on to say that it’s easy when you’ve done the work of studying, researching, and more which makes it seem like an easy feat to viewers. Although he’s one of the most popular faces starring in popular movies like A Soldier’s Story and Fences, his career in acting wasn’t a choice he could have evaded.

When Tom Brady asked Denzel Washington if his success came from his natural talents or if he had to grind his way through it all, the 68-year-old replied, “I failed in everything else.” He went on to admit that he had dreams of becoming a doctor but failed because he couldn’t spell or pass the course. Then he tried his hands at becoming a lawyer but didn’t meet with success either.

Finally, Denzel Washington was able to secure a ground in journalism that eventually landed him in theatre. After being suggested to go into acting, he finally trained himself at the American Conservatory Theater, acting in Off-Broadway performances. He rose to prominence in 1982 with the NBC medical drama series St. Elsewhere and A Soldier’s Story in 1984. 

As Tom Brady and Denzel Washington talk about his career, the acclaimed actor is onto a new project in 2023, where he’ll star alongside Paul Mescal, Derek Jacobi, and Pedro Pascal, in Gladiator 2.
