Antonio Brown starts his day unlike any other retired football legend by thinking about his next move to troll his ‘cracker of the day’. And it’s been Caitlin Clark for the past few days. It couldn’t have come at a worse time, since the week marks Clark getting drafted as the No. 1 overall in the WNBA draft.

Continuing his online assault, Brown has now crossed another boundary by dragging Caitlin Clark’s relationship into the trolling. On 20th April, Brown posted a meme with a guy scrunching up his nose with the caption “Caitlin’s boyfriend leaving the house.” Until now, Brown’s jabs were limited to just Clark, but dragging her boyfriend Connor McCaffrey into the equation has raised the seriousness. She went Instagram official with McCaffrey, a fellow basketball player, and Iowa alum, in August 2023. Now following her recent WNBA draft selection, Clark was spotted celebrating with her boyfriend.

But Brown’s saga of harassing Clark online started with him congratulating her for surpassing Pеtе Maravich in NCAA’s Division 1 history in March. The messages took a sharp u-turn, however, with his memes beginning to ruthlessly troll her. In one of his previous tweets about Clark, he wrote, “Claitlin Clark looks like she keep it hairy.”

When his post went viral, he followed it up with, “She looks like she keeps it hairy. REPEATED When did Bush become a bad thing Did we cancel the Bush? Make Bushes Great Again.”

Clearly distraught by his tweets, Clark decided to block him on X. “I’vе had еnough of thе constant abusе.” However, Brown wouldn’t take the hint and wrote about the basketball player blocking him. “Cracker of the Day, blocked by Cousin It,” he tweeted, referencing Cousin It- a character from ‘The Addams Family’ movies.

However, his antics on X are not new. Remember how he took digs at Tom Brady by editing images of Gisele Bundchen? He released edited images of him hugging the model. Much later, he even released AI-generated images of him kissing Taylor Swift, which seemed like a dig at both Swift and Travis Kelce. When Swifties saw the image, they warned him that the singer might sue him. In fact, X users were unable to search for ‘Taylor Swift’ for a short amount of time as the social media platform tried to get rid of those images. But coming back to Caitlin Clark, Antonio Brown isn’t the only one who made her uncomfortable.

Recently, an Indianapolis journalist said something that didn’t sit well with many fans. He apologized after facing criticism for what he said. We know that Clark likes to flash a heart symbol with her hands when her family is present in the stands to support her. Well, reporter Gregg Doyel attended her introductory press conference on 17 April and flashed a heart symbol at her. But it was the interaction after this gesture that left many confused.

“You like that?” Clark asked him.
“I like that you’re here.”
“Yeah, I do that at my family after every game,” the basketball player explained.
“Start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine,” the reporter replied.

Fans bashed Doyel on social media after this interaction. Thus, he apologized for what he said. He wrote on IndyStar, “I’m devastated to realize I’m part of the problem. I screwed up Wednesday during my first interaction with No. 1 overall draft pick Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever.”

“… I’m sort of known locally, sigh, for having awkward conversations with people before asking brashly conversational questions. I’ve done this for years with Colts coaches Chuck Pagano, Frank Reich and Shane Steichen. I’ve done it with Purdue players Carsen Edwards and Zach Edey. I did it with IU’s Romeo Langford, talking to them as people, not athletes. Notice something about all those names? They’re all men.”

He further explained that while the coverage, respect, and compensation should be on par for both male and female athletes, he should have been more aware of what he was saying to Clark. He wanted to be clever, familiar, and welcoming, but in doing so, faltered. Now while Gregg Doyel apologized, it doesn’t seem like Antonio Brown will do the same. Why? He believes, “Cant be canceled if you already cancelled.”
